This was during the summer some time.
If I haven't mentioned it before, I LOVE my Daddy. He is one of the greatest examples in my life. He has had MS since I was 4, and has lost all mobility except for a little in his left hand, YET he STILL keeps a positive attitude. His wife is a very hard worker, and so they aren't able to travel a lot, and they have lots of family that live with them, so it's hard for us to go see them without it costing us a lot, and so, alas, we don't seem as often as we should.
We actually took my in-laws motor home up there this year. This way we were able to stay up and hang out with my Dad, but still put Jders to sleep in the motor home. We had a really great trip, and my brother from California came the last day we were there, so we had a miniature family reunion.
Grandpa and Sissy waiting in the doctor's office. My Dad was recovering from a really bad bladder infection, and had just recently gotten out of the hospital, so we accompanied them to the doctor.
We went over to Green River, Wyoming and watched the choo-choo's load and reload. I think we were more interested in this than Sissy.
This is Sis walking up the ramp to go on the overpass, and saying "whoo, whoo" like the trains. And she can't do it unless she puts her hand up just like that.
And what to our wandering eyes should appear, but a train with green and yellow tractors. Farmer Brown was so ecstatic he grabbed the camera to take a few pictures.
Jders decided to stand on a sprayer after Daddy did it.
We talked Jder into running through the froggy head once. She learned her lesson, and wouldn't do it again.
Like any two-year-old, she wanted her clothes off right when she wanted them off. So while Daddy went to get a diaper in the car, she walked around the park in the nude. No shame.
Then we had to go over to the Choo-Choo and check it out. She wanted to go in so bad, she threw a pretty good tantrum, but it was all locked up. After our large detour at the splash pad, we finally ended up at the river where we had meant to go in the first place and threw in rocks. Jders step-grandma kept trying to find her pretty rocks. She would hand her a pretty rock to keep and take home, and Jders would throw it in the water.
I don't know why, but it always tugs on my heart string when Farmer Brown carries her on his shoulders, and I'm looking at them from behind.
Yep, when you're in Wyoming, white trash just automatically is your game. So....here we are using my Dad's old wheelchair to pull Jders around the yard.
For some odd reason Jders took a fancy to the chickens. She LOVED them. She sat outside their cage and threw dirt into the cage for hours - no kidding. In the pictures below, you can see how covered she is with dirt. I took her into the motor home and gave her a quick shower, and within 10 minutes of getting dressed in new clothes, she was sitting in the dirt again. Why bother? Then it made me think about all the dirt around my Dad's house. We don't have ANY around our house unless you count the sandbox. I think that's kind of sad. One of the best things about my childhood was playing in the dirt. This made me more anxious to get out of the "city" - if you can call my tiny town that, and live somewhere where there is more dirt for kids to play in. Or for now, to take Jders to the farm more often, so she can play in the dirt.
Then her uncle showed her how to get these weeds and feed them to the chickens, so she did that for another couple of hours. I told Farmer Brown we needed some chickens, I guess. He just laughed.
We had a big dinner with dutch oven potatoes, mushrooms, and steak. It was awesome! Here's the crowd waiting on dinner.
Usually we get a little bored when we're at my Dad's, but this time was fantastic! We had tons of fun, especially Jders!
