We have been able to do lots of fun things this summer, (and I have tons of pictures to catch up on) but alas, the time has come for me to be a single mom for two months. Sigh. Yesterday Farmer Brown started harvest, and since they start harvesting really close to town, (sometimes they are more than half an hour away) we decided to go ride with him.
Sissy is taking in the header, going round and round. She is very content watching the header, and can watch it for at least an hour before getting antsy or falling asleep. Yesterday she fell asleep. Then when she woke up she decided to play on the floor and get a closer look at the operation.
She lasted 2 hours yesterday in the combine! And even then, I think it was me who wanted to leave more than she did - my butt was falling asleep. Maybe she is getting old enough to go to work with Dad.
Helping Daddy with his turn signal, she LOVES all the buttons and gear shifts in the combines and tractors and can play with them for quite a while before getting bored. She's not strong enough to really push/move any of them, but she thinks she is.
First day of harvest 2011.

Lucky girl! So many kids wish they could do that! The first picture looks scary, like she's about to fall right into the combine! Hard to tell there's a window blocking her. If your into widow/harvest season, ya wanna come visit? I know--Jed's coming up this Wed. b/c they're going on "The Hike" up here this weekend. If his rig's not full, you could come stay with me while all the other big kids go hiking! Or you could go hiking too and leave Jders with me, though she's probably a bit young to be left with someone she's not used to. It would be fun to have you!
